"Frau Kurt" is a fictional character, with good reason! In German-speaking countries “Kurt” is a male first name, which can cause confusion. For instance when being examined by a doctor.

Our "Frau Kurt" discovered her talent as a chanson singer early on, in her homeland Turkey, where she performed in hotels and bars. Now, in the European Union, her repertoire includes not only chansons, but also many French, Italian, English and Turkish songs, hits from films of the 1920’s and 1930’s, Art Songs by Kurt Weill, excerpts from musicals and the demanding Cabaret Songs by Benjamin Britten and Arnold Schoenberg.

Those with scholarly interests can read her Masters Thesis on Schoenberg’s “Brettl Lieder” and Jugendstil in the Graz Music University Library. This is equally entertaining!
